  2. Explain how your organization could use international social media platforms if needed.

What to do this week

On Monday, we'll welcome Melissa Cornett, Mercer BS Tech Comm/MBA, who works with Brightwave Marketing. Melissa will be available to describe her work and answer any questions you may have about social media management for multiple organizations. Please have questions ready to ask Melissa so that we use her time effectively.

Step 1 -- Read

Read these short articles on international social media:

Top Social Media Networks You Didn't Know Existed

After reading these articles, be ready to discuss other social media networks used primarily outside the United States, and how they might affect your organization, if at all.

Step 2 -- Prepare a Slide Show

Prepare a short slide presentation to share with the class that summarizes your Best Practices Report. Each team member should contribute 3-4 slides about the company studied as part of the overall team presentation. Topics covered should be:

  • Social media platforms used
  • Usage patterns
  • Summary of the best practices you observed

Class Agenda for Monday, June 24

1. First, Melissa will introduce herself and her work at Brightwave.

2. Second, we'll have a wide-ranging discussion with Melissa about social media management.

3. Third, you'll present your Best practices slide show.

4. Fourth, we'll discuss the readings about international social media.

4. Finally, we'll conclude with an overview of the July 22 session, in which you'll present your social media analysis of one company.

What to do after you've read -- interact in our social media sites

1. Comment on the class blog -- all posts.

You have received an invitation to become an author on our Wordpress blog, tco691.wordpress.com. Go to the blog, read my post, and write a comment reflecting your thoughts about my post. Then, read the comments of other students and make at least one comment regarding another student's comment. Throughout the semester, you will be responsible for writing and posting articles on this blog.

2. Continue following @tco691. Tweet from our account. Here's how:

Join the class Twitter account -- https://twitter.com/tco691. First, create a Twitter account if you do not have one, or log in if you do and follow @tco691. Then, log out and sign in to our shared account. The username is tco691 and the password is Mercer1833. Send at least one tweet regarding anything you've read or you hope to learn to the class using the hashtag #tcosm.

3. Join our Google+ circle (you've all been invited). Make a comment, share a link, provide some sort of feedback within our circle.
