Multimedia Problem One

SETTING
Sicklecell.md - a company set up to get across the truth about sickle cell disease, that there are many people affected whom live comparatively normal lives.

CHALLENGE
There were many websites that contained information about Sicklecell disease but none that contained information regarding the patient with the disease. The director of sicklecell.md wished to address this and provide a "resource to the sickle cell disease patient".

He wanted to give the users an opportunity to learn about the disease and contact other people and relate experiences with each other. And, many people had been asking him for lists of his publications, mostly relating to sicklecell but some relating to AIDS. Thus, he wanted to allow users access to this and further down the line to provide the option for users to purchase his in depth book on the subject.

Multimedia Problem Two
PORTER COSMETICS

SETTING
A cosmetics company wants to give a multimedia experience to visitors to their corporate headquarters.

CHALLENGE
Create a high-tech multimedia experience to present to onsite visitors entering the building at corporate headquarters. Porter wants visitors to understand their major products and services before venturing too far through corporate headquarters. This experience has to be easy to access and usable by visitors of any age and stage in life. It also must be accessible at a variety of locations within the building.

Multimedia Problem Three
Clawson Construction

SETTING
Clawson Construction Group is one of the nation's most respected and experienced general contractors, with annual revenue over $2 billion. Headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, Clawson has four regional offices that are strategically located to serve the needs of their clients throughout the United States.

CHALLENGE
In early 2001, Clawson Construction expressed the need to redesign their current corporate website. The site was developed a few years back, and needed a design and functionality update. Clawson needed a website as a means of communication with current and potential clients, to help them learn how the company's services and capabilities can meet people's needs. Clawson Construction saw the website as an opportunity to communicate their capabilities, size, strengths and values to a wide variety of customers all over the country, to attract top quality potential employees, and to share information about their projects and community service efforts with the public. Clawson wants a website that contains a variety of multimedia presentations (optional for site users) that provide rich media demonstrating their capabilities.

Multimedia Problem Four

General Services Administration

SETTING
The General Services Administration (GSA) National Capital Region (NCR) of the Public Buildings Service (PBS) consists of one main office and 67 field sites. The field sites are distributed throughout the Washington DC metropolitan area. There are around 1,100 users at the main site and 1,000 users distributed among the field sites.

CHALLENGE
GSA Central Office expressed the need to have a web-based multimedia explanation of the process to apply for funding for public buildings. This process contains quite a few steps and users often omit a step or submit the wrong paperwork. This explanation should model the appropriate forms and explain the process step-by-step.

Multimedia Problem Five

Traditions Financial Group

SETTING
The Traditions Financial Group is a fully licensed full-service financial services provider. The company has four locations across the country, with hundreds of customers nationwide.

CHALLENGE
As the Traditions Financial Group is an aggressively growing company, they identified the need for a website in order to reach a wide number of customers all over the US - current, as well as potential ones - and to convey information about the services the Group can offer. They also want users to be able to get help regarding financial services and accounts via their websites, along with multimedia tutorials to help users understand investing and retirement planning.
