TCO 285 Brochure Assignment

Purpose: Your task is to create a brochure for a professional organization or group of your choice. You will need to compose your own text and create or find your own graphic elements.

Ideas for Audience (but not limited to these)

  • Business
  • Non-profit organization
  • Fund-raising/development/foundation
  • School/university

Fraternities, sororities, school organizations, etc. do not count as potential projects (sorry!). Ask me if you have an idea but are not sure if it is appropriate.

Audience: You must be able to clearly describe your projected audience in the preliminary brochure profile sent to the listserv (by Session Ten.)

Purpose: Your brochure should be informational, designed to convey information to your target audience. It can be topical, about a series of events, or instructional (in that it explains or teaches.)

Evaluation: The redesigned brochure will be graded using the Brochure Grading Rubric.

Important Dates

On Session 13, we will conduct peer reviews on your draft design.

Your final copy is due on Session 14.

Submission Format: Please submit your brochure in a printed form in class.

Required Elements:
Elements required for all brochures are as follows:

  1. 8 1/2 x 11 paper size, either portrait or landscape
  2. Title(s) using display typefaces
  3. Headlines
  4. Sub-headlines
  5. Fold - either bifold or trifold
  6. Images (pictures, graphics, clip art) - at least 3
  7. Typefaces limited to 3
  8. Varying font sizes and styles
  9. Front and back of page should include content
  10. Clear evidence of principles of design that is evident in your product.
