TCO 325 Assignments

 

Assignments Points Description
Individual Home Page 100 Create a home page and post it to the EGR webserver. On this page, students will post all future course assignments.
Group Case Studies (2) 25 x2 = 50 Deliver a short presentation as a review of a multimedia site. Each student will create and present two site reviews. Check the course calendar for due dates. Cases must use sites designed for entertainment, training, or business uses.
Flash Exercise 1: 50 Create a self portrait using the drawing tools in Flash. Points will be awarded in proportion to the likeness, the effort in drawing, and the use of various drawing tools in Flash..

Flash Exercise 2:

50 Create a CD jacket using an original drawing in Flash. You must create the name, the front jacket, and the inside song listings. Don't forget to give yourself credit for the work.
Helpful hints:To set the dimensions of the work area (Stage), select Modify, Movie, put ruler units into inches, and set the width to 10" and the height to to 4.75".
Flash Exercise 3 25 Build an interesting shape tween -- something more than just two shapes tweening together.
Flash Exercise 4 25 Build an interesting motion tween. Be creative.
Flash Exercise 5 25 Animate a word (your name, an odd word, etc).
Flash Exercise 6 50 Create an original drawing that you could use as the background to your personal class website.
Flash Exercise 7 50 Create a splash page for your personal class website.
Flash Exercise 8 50 Create a movie clip with accompanying animation.
Flash Exercise 9 50 Create a website banner add for your website.
Flash Exercise 10 50 Create an animated flash file with sound and video that is governed by original action script.
Midterm Exam 100 The midterm exam is a comprehensive assessment of acquired multimedia knowledge and interactivity principles gained from the course. The midterm exam will not assess Flash knowledge.
Design Brief 50 This begins the group project portion of the course. Each group will create and write a one-page proof of concept design brief that describes their final project.

100 Each group will create a design blueprint, containing a detailed explanation of the final multimedia project. This includes the step-by-step production, the storyboards, project plan, and selected screen shots.
Rapid Prototype 50 For each group, this assignment is the initial composition of the multimedia project, with all major features designed but not fully completed. It should give the user a "skeleton" view of how the final project will look, with approximately 50-75% fidelity to the final project.
Final Group Multimedia Project & Presentation 150 Each group will create and present a final multimedia product based on the topic assigned. This product should be based in Flash, delivered in the browser, and contain a clearly understood interface, shape and motion tweens, other animation, audio (music and/or narration) and video and be governed at least in part by action scripting.
