Week Nine Guide -- October 28, 2013 -- Rapid Prototyping

Welcome to Week Nine! Here's how to get started.

  1. Read Chapter Ten in the textbook about Prototyping and Scope Creep.
  2. Read the additional reading linked below.

Objectives for Week Nine

  1. Describe common forms of multimedia prototyping.

For Class Discussion Monday, October 28, 2013

To begin Monday night's discussion, Lisa and Ken will provide an introduction to the Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM), and the Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative (ADL).

Prototyping

TIn addition to reading Chapter Nine in the textbook on prototyping, I've selected two additional articles for you to read.

The first article, Rapid Prototyping: An Efficient Way to Collaboratively Design and Develop E-Learning Content, is a good overview of the practice. Written by a designer at the Navy Center for ELearning Excellence, it comes from an expert in the field of military training, which uses rapid prototyping extensively as a way to save costs.

The second article, Supporting Multimedia Designers: Toward More Effective Tools, talks about the challenges of multimedia designers from the fresh perspective of actual interviews with real designers (kind of like the article on multimedia production we read earlier in the semester). Questions for discussion are listed in the Google document linked below.

Assignments for Week Nine

  • Collaborate on the Google document for reflection for class discussion
  • Submit your draft of Assignment 2 for peer review. Each team needs to send their paper to the other team for review by Monday night, October 28.
