Week Six Guide

Welcome to Week Six! Here's how to get started.

  1. Read Chapter Seven in the textbook about script development and asset management.
  2. Read the additional reading linked below.

Here are the objectives for Week Six -- in other words, the most important concepts I want you to "get" by the end of our first week:

  1. Describe the procedures for multimedia script development and asset management

Let's Talk

Screenwriting for Multimedia

Screenwriting, also known as scriptwriting, is an essential part of all multimedia projects because it helps us to outline our project's structure and content.

Script writing can be thought of as a complete specification of all media elements (audio, video, text, narration, animation) and interactivity in an explicit way so that the programmer knows exactly what to implement.

I've compiled 3 readings in addition to the textbook for this week:

  1. Take a moment and read these scriptwriting guidelines.
  2. Read this blog post about the importance of both a good script and a good narrator for narration.
  3. Flip through this presentation on multimedia script writing from George Mason University.

For Class Discussion

I've begun a 4-column multimedia script for a short educational multimedia project titled "How to Drive a Car".

I need you to help me complete the script.

Click on the link below and complete your assigned slide in the Google docs presentation I've started. Your slide has your scene # and name. On Monday, we'll look at the completed presentation to see what kind of script we've built. This is a consecutive skill, so you must look at what the person has written who precedes and follows you in order to build your slide. If you haven't used Google docs, the presentation will automatically save your changes.

Complete the Multimedia Script
