Research Opportunities

Welcome to the laboratory website of Dr. Kevin Murnane. Our research group is housed in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Mercer University College of Pharmacy.

Our research group is focused on the etiology, consequences, and treatment of disorders of the central nervous system. His research lab has the most well developed interests in the study of drug addiction and Alzheimer's disease. To develop new treatments for these disorders, the Murnane group uses techniques such as behavioral pharmacology, operant conditioning, neuroimaging, in vivo microdialysis, computational chemistry, analytical chemistry, drug formulation, physiology, electroencephalography, and immunohistochemistry. To drive these studies, Dr. Murnane collaborates with other scientists within the Mercer College of Pharmacy, including scientists within the Center for Drug Delivery Research and the Center for Drug Design. Recently, Dr. Murnane has helped to establish a Center for High-Complexity Diagnostics to provide avenues to move findings within Dr. Murnane's basic research program into human patients. The Murnane lab also works closely with scientists at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, the Research Triangle Institute in North Carolina and the Riken Brain Science Institute in Japan.
