The Story

The first step in creating a digital story is to write a script.  A digital story should be short and concise.  The script should be 2 – 4 minutes long.  Once you write your script you should read it aloud while timing the script.  One problem with creating a narrative script is telling too many stories.  You should focus on developing one story with a beginning, middle and an end.  Using the front and back of a 4x6 index card is a good exercise in creating your script. Once you write your script you may want to have someone read it to provide you with feedback. Maybe you can share your script with a fellow classmate and that way you can read their script and share with them your insight into their story.

The story is the most important element in a digital story. You story is the glue that holds everything together. When editing your story the first step in the process is narrating your story. Use a quality microphone and speak loudly into the mic. Don't speak to fast and pace your narration. When you have your narration recorded then you can begin matching your pictures and graphics with the timing in your script.
