Instructional Design Week One
August 25, 2014
This course will teach you to design and create instructional materials.
This week, we will:
- Explore the history of instructional design
- Examine key models of instructional design
- Read Chapter 1 of the Dick and Carey textbook
Our goal this week is to familiarize ourselves with the Dick and Carey model. Then, we will explore other instructional design models. All models are basically some variation the generic model of analysis-design-develop-implement-evaluate (ADDIE). What sets the models apart are the theories on which they are based. Next week we will examine learning theories.
Learning Objectives
- Define the major terms associated with instructional design
- Describe the major activities associated with systematic instructional design
- Identify benefits of instructional design training
- Compare and contrast instructional design models
Required Reading for this week
- Chapter 1 of your Dick, Carey, and Carey text
- History of ID, Part One
- History of ID, Part Two
