November 2014: Full Kloepper group participation at SERMACS! Jessie and Paden, Cody and Erin, and Charnelle and Brooke each presented a research poster. KDK gave an invited talk.
October 2013: KDK gave an invited seminar at Auburn University as part of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Fall Colloquium.
September 2013: Former Kloepper group researcher Katie Miller was accepted to Mercer Medical School. Congrats, Katie!
September 2013: The Kloepper group all attended the Herty Medalist Undergraduate Research Symposium at Morehouse College in Atlanta. Cody and Jessie each presented a research poster.
Fall 2013: Charnelle, Erin, Brooke, and Paden joined the Kloepper group. Welcome!
May 2013: Kasie graduated summa cum laude with a B.S degree in Chemistry, B.A. degree in Psychology, and a minor in Biology. She also received departmental honors in chemistry. She will be starting her graduate studies in Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin in the fall.
May 2013: Katie graduate cum laude with a B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Congrats, Katie!
May 2013: Kasie and Katie were named to the Spring 2013 Dean’s list.
April 2013: At Honors Convocation Kasie received the Merck Senior Prize in Chemistry and Jessie won the Analytical Chemistry Award. Congrats!
April 2013: Katie received a 2013 Bear Senior Award in recognition of her outstanding service to campus life. Congrats, Katie
April 2013: 100% Kloepper group participation at Mercer’s BEAR Day again this year! Katie gave an oral presentation, and Jessie presented a poster. Cody and Kasie jointly presented a poster.
January 2013: Jessie received a 2012-13 American Chemical Society Student Leader Award and attended the 2013 Leadership Institute in Dallas, TX.
Spring 2013: Katie, Kasie, and Cody were selected as Organic Chemistry laboratory assistants, and Jessie was chosen to help in Quantitative Analysis. Way to go!
November 2012: Dr. Kloepper and Kasie attended the Southwest Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Baton Rouge, LA. Dr. Kloepper gave an oral presentation, and Kasie presented during the undergraduate poster session. Kasie won 1st place in her poster division. Way to go, Kasie!
September 2012: Katie and Kasie both presented at the 2012 Herty Medalist Undergraduate Research Symposium at Morehouse College in Atlanta. Kasie won first place, which included a $500 travel award and a one-year ACS membership.
Fall 2012: Cody, Jessie, and Matt joined the group! Katie and Kasie are continuing with senior research. Cody and Jessie were selected as fall General Chemistry TAs. Kasie, Katie, and Matt were selected as Organic Chemistry TAs. Congrats!
Summer 2012: Kasie was selected for Notre Dame’s NSF REU program. She will be working in the Schultz laboratory. Dr. Kloepper attended and presented at the Biennial Conference on Chemical Education at Penn State in August.
May 2012: Danielle graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry and a minor in Psychology. She will be entering the Ph.D. program in the Chemistry department of the University of Utah. She was awarded an NSF IGERT fellowship. Congrats!
May 2012: The entire Kloepper group was named to the Spring 2012 Dean’s List! Congrats to Annika, Danielle, Kasie, and Katie.
April 2012: We had 100% group participation at Mercer’s BEAR Day! Danielle gave a talk, Kasie presented a poster, and Annika and Katie jointly presented a poster. Kasie won 1st place for best poster presentation. Congrats, Kasie!

October 2011: Danielle and Katie both gave oral presentations during the Summer Student Research Seminar Series. Danielle presented her research from her summer NSF-REU at Georgia Tech. Katie presented her MUBS research from the summer.
August 2011: Danielle and Dr. Kloepper attended the Fall National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Denver, CO. Danielle presented during the Division of Analytical Chemistry’s undergraduate research poster session. Dr. Kloepper presented during the Division of Chemical Education’s poster session.
Fall 2011: Danielle was selected to be a Fall 2011 Organic Chemistry laboratory TA. Kasie was selected to be a Fall 2011 General Chemistry laboratory TA. Congrats!
July 2011: Danielle was named a 3M Foundation Undergraduate Summer Research Fellow! She was selected by the Department of Chemistry at Georgia Tech for this honor.
Summer 2011: The Kloepper group is very busy this summer! Kasie is traveling to Mozambique with Dr. Kiefer and Dr. Drace’s Mercer on Mission trip. One of the goals of the trip is to research the effects of mercury on local gold miners. Danielle is participating in Georgia Tech’s REU program and is spending the summer in Dr. Lyon’s research group. Katie is a half-time participant in the Mercer Undergraduate Biomedical Scholars Training Program. She will continue to work on the biosurfactant project.
May 2011: Kasie was named to the Spring 2011 Dean’s List.
April 2011: Kasie and Dr. Kloepper spoke at the Georgia Mining Association’s 2011 Environmental Workshop.
April 2011: We had 100% group participation in Mercer’s first annual BEAR Day! Gordan and Kasie jointly presented a research poster on their kaolin work, and Danielle and Katie jointly presented a research poster on their biosurfactant work.
March 2011: Danielle and Dr. Kloepper attended Pittcon 2011 in Atlanta.
January 2011: Kasie was named to the A-Sun All-Academic team.
December 2010: Congrats to Kasie for being named to the Fall 2010 Dean’s List!
December 2010: Gordan and Kasie jointly presented a poster at the Joint Southwest and Southeastern Regional ACS meeting in New Orleans, LA. As the meeting motto instructed, they were sure to “laissez la bonne chimie roule!”
