Card Sorting by Suit Experiment

ISE 428 data from class activity 2_10_11

Analyze the data using two different statistical methods available in Minitab 15. It may not be appropriate to use all of the data points for some methods. Email the report to me by noon on Tuesday Feb 15.

Your report should include the following sections:

1)a brief description of the experimental setting/conditions

2)analysis method one (statistical name of the method in Minitab, table showing the data used in the proper format, results from Minitab, your hypotheses and conclusions)

3)analysis method two (statistical name of the method in Minitab, table showing the data used in the proper format, results from Minitab, your hypotheses and conclusions)

4)a brief statement about which method yielded the most accurate understanding of the card sorting process.

Feb 15, 2011

discussed data types and "measurement" scales

reviewed statistical analysis methods for simple designed experiments

Review statistics and data analysis principles from chapter 32 and 33 of your text
Feb 17, 2011 Design and execution of a one sample t-test based on the card-sorting experiment. Design and execute an experiment that can be analyzed using a two sample t-test.   Design and execute an experiment that can be analyzed using a paired sample t-test.
Feb 22, 2011 Discuss student-designed experiments.

Test 1 on Tuesday (March 1)

Read pages 423 and 424 of your text. Determine the sample size needed to develop a 95% confidence interval for the mean sort time for one member of your team. Justify your estimation of sigma and selection of the margin of error (E). Execute the experiment and report your results.

Feb 24, 2011 Discuss student-designed data collection to develop a 95% CI. Study for Test 1.
Mar. 1, 2011

discussed topics for Test 1

conducted Chi-Square goodness of fit experiments using colored paper clips

Write up the experimental procedure and results for both experiments.
Mar. 3, 2011 Discuss Experiment Results and Writeup
Mar. 15, 2011 Discussed experimental designs with high/low levels using senior design project as an example. Divided class into 2 teams. Design a 2k experiment for three factors. Team captains Chris and Russell.
